Police: Department of Public Safety is investigating off-campus burglaries near Syracuse University

The email sent to the campus community on Friday was the semester's first Department of Public Safety notice.

The Department of Public Safety is investigating several off-campus burglaries in neighborhoods north and east of Syracuse University’s campus that occurred “in recent days,” police said.

City police are also investigating the burglaries, according to a DPS safety notice sent to the campus community via email on Friday.

The alleged suspects have been entering buildings through unlocked doors and windows, per the notice. The email did not specify what buildings had been burglarized.

The email was the first DPS notice of the semester.
